2023 Financial Literacy Fair at Toll Gate Highschool

On May 24th Wave held its annual Financial Literacy Fair at Toll Gate Highschool.  Wave continues to give high school students a taste of real-life financial decisions they will make in their adult lives.  Throughout the year Wave conducts monthly sessions at Toll Gate High School in Warwick.  In these sessions the students select a career and with a realistic income for that career and learn about budgeting, savings, and making financial decisions.  Each year Wave sponsors a Financial Literacy Fair for the Toll Gate Students. At this fair the students interacted with local businesses as consumers and had to make many financial decisions that would impact them monthly. After visiting on all the businesses, the students then spoke with credit counselors who would review their financial decisions and calculate their monthly debt to income ratio to see how they did. In some cases, students were instructed to go back to some of the tables to re-evaluate their choices for something more affordable. Wave looks forward to this program and the fair ever year to assist in the financial health and education of the Toll Gate High School Students.
